Bernice A. Scheirer, 90, of Metamora, IL passed away at 7:47 am on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Carle Health-Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL.

She was born on November 30, 1934, in Metamora, IL, to Clarence and Josephine (Krumholz) Grebner. She married Milton J. Scheirer, Sr. on July 6, 1957 in Metamora, IL. He passed away on May 31, 2022.

Surviving are her children, Dale (Deborah) Scheirer of Toluca, IL, Daniel (Debora) Scheirer, Diane Scheirer, Milton (Kimberly) Scheirer, Jr., and Julie (Ronald) Branson all of Metamora, IL; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Raymond Grebner of Metamora, IL, Evelyn (Tom) McCormack of East Peoria, IL, Christine (John) Gilles of Brimfield, IL, and Eugene (Connie) Grebner of Metamora, IL; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Grebner of Metamora, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald Grebner, brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Helen Grebner, and sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Clarence Mitzelfelt.

Bernice had worked at the Metamora IGA. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora. She loved cooking, gardening, canning, pie making, dancing, reading, and front porch sitting. She farmed along with Milton her whole life. She loved her family and spending time with them.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 26, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father David Kipfer officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:00 am with visitation to follow from 9:30 am until mass time, also on Friday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary's School, 400 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
