Bert M. Sams, age 86, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, May 5, 2025, at Arbor Trace Senior Living.
Born March 12, 1939, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky to James and Nannie Sams, Bert lived most of his life in this community. He worked at Johns Manville and Kemper Cabinets. Bert also worked in carpentry with his brother. He enjoyed attending garage sales, music, and spending time with his family and friends. Bert was a member of Centerville Christian Church.
Survivors include his sons, James (Debra) Sams, of Centerville, Indiana, Vincent (Vanessa) Sams, of Webster, Indiana, and Ricky (Shelley) Sams, of Centerville, Indiana; grandchildren, Anthony (Karen) Sams of Sellersburg, Indiana, Kyle (Lacey) Sams of Webster, Indiana, Amber Pence of Centerville, Indiana, Justin Sams of Richmond, and Rachel (Justin) Mills of Centerville; ten great-grandchildren, Judah, Noah, Liam, Alexis, Grayson, Rylin, Eli, Avrey, Emitt, and Easton; sister in law Sharon Rittenhouse of Florida; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Frances Ann Sams, who died October 26, 2022; parents; grandson, Skylar Sams; and six siblings.
Visitation for Bert M. Sams will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, c/o Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
