Bertha Huene, a lifelong resident of Centralia, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, at the age of 86.
Bertha was born on Saturday, October 2nd, 1937, in Centralia, Illinois, to the late Leo and Etta (Stein) Huene.
Bertha is survived by her nephews: Darold Leo Huene and wife Trina of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, David Terry and wife Debbie of Midland, Texas, and Kevin Terry and wife Doris of Plano, Texas; nieces Beverly Mansker of Centralia and Lisa Senn of Centralia; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her Fireside Family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Darold "Bud" Huene, sister: Alice Terry, brother-in-law: Kenny Terry, sister-in-law: Sue Huene, nephews: Steve Terry, Darold "Butch" Queen, Patrick Terry, a niece: Donna Guthrie-King, and by the love of her life, Blazing Saddles, which was her horse.
Bertha graduated from St. Mary Grade School and Centralia High School. She dedicated 46 years of her life as a LPN, touching the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hillcrest Memorial Park and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to Bertha's family.
