Thomas R. Huene, CMSgt, USAF, Retired, Niceville, Florida passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on November 6, 2025, at Eglin Air Force Base Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born in Rockford, Illinois, to Joseph R. Huene and Beryl (Fallon) Huene. Tom joined the United States Air Force in 1960, and after a brief time outside the military rejoined and went on to serve over 30 years. He was a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. Throughout his distinguished career, he held numerous positions of responsibility and leadership, ultimately retiring from his last position as the Financial Management and Services Superintendent at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Following his retirement from active duty, Tom continued to serve his country, working as a civil servant in financial management at Duke Field, Florida, until his final retirement in 2005. Tom was an avid classic car enthusiast - his pride and joy was his 1966 Chevelle Malibu convertible, which he proudly displayed at many car shows. He was also a backyard pitmaster who loved cooking for friends and family, creating countless cherished memories around the table.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beatrice K. (Hewett) Huene; daughter, Dawn M. (Huene) Black; son-in-law, Phillip A. Black; grandchildren, Ethan and Holland, all of Niceville, Florida; his sister, Karen (Huene) Corirossi of Fort Myers, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Huene.
