Bertha Marie Jackson Turkin a resident of Lacombe, Louisiana passed away with her loving family at her side on June 11, 2024 at the age of 71.
Bertha was a native of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina born on July 8, 1952 to the late James E. Jackson, Sr. and Birdie Mae Hickman Jackson.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories, her loving husband Melvin Turkin, her beloved children Melvin Curtis Turkin, Sr. (Alaina) and Jamie Lynn Turkin Seghers (Joe), her siblings; James E. Jackson, Jr. (Cindy), William L.S. Jackson and Frances H. Jackson Casborn. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Tryston Roger, Melvin Curtis Turkin, Jr., Joseph A. Seghers, III, Hunter C. Turkin, and Jaxon A. Turkin.
Bertha is preceded in death by her parents James E. Jackson, Sr. and Birdie Mae Hickman Jackson as well as her siblings; Harry C. Long, Jr., Andrew H. Long, Sr. and Leonard H. Jackson, Sr.
She enjoyed spending time with her loving family, was a great listener and loved to give and help those in need. She had a passion for shopping, reading and playing scrabble.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial to follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery 1751 Gause Blvd. Slidell, Louisiana 70460.
