Bertram Russell Imlay, 90, of Seymour passed away on March 5, 2024, at his residence after a long illness. Bertram was the oldest son of Clifford E. and Grace Lloyd (Brackemyre) Imlay and was born in Seymour on August 12, 1933.
Bert was a graduate of the class of 1954 of Cortland High School, a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church until 1971 and then he became a member of Seymour Christian Church, where he taught Sunday School classes. He married Donna L. Moore in August of 1957, she survives.
Bert worked on the farm with his dad and drove a grader for the county, he then went to work for the state highway, mowing throughout the district. In 1956, he went to work for Hamilton Cosco and worked there for 42 years prior to his retirement. He became a member of the Jackson Lodge #146 F.&A.M in 1987 and became a Past Master and a life member of the lodge in 1988, he was a past member of the York Rite, where he was a York Cross of Honor and the Scottish Rite.
In addition to his wife, Donna, Bert is survived by his children: Ina M. (Terry) Neighly and son, Vincent L. Imlay; brother, Stephen D. (Peggy) Imlay; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Lewis William Imlay, brothers: David Lloyd Imlay and Michael B. Imlay.
There will be a funeral service held in Bert's honor at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Voss & Sons Funeral and Cremation Service, 316 N. Chestnut St., Seymour. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Bert will be buried by his family in Riverview Cemetery.
