Our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother, Bessie Pauline Chrisp passed on to her heavenly home on Friday, August 8, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She was married to the late James J. Chrisp on December 18,1954. They were married for 63 years.

Bessie was born on October 3,1929 in Person County, NC. She was the third eldest child to Coy and Louise Bradsher. Her parents were instrumental in her life, which left a lasting footprint on how she cared for others and created a strong work ethic. Bessie was a phenomenal caregiver to her parents until God called them home.

Bessie was educated in the Orange County Public School System where she was a part of the class of 1948, Central High School in Hillsborough, NC. She was very active in her community and church. Bessie was a proud member of the Eastern Star with St. Anita Maria Lodge in Hillsborough, NC. She was also a lifelong member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Hurdle Mills, NC where she served as a Senior Missionary for over 50 years and in the Senior choir for over 30 years. She would often say, "I love good singing and all my choirs." While raising her children, she was very active in their education. You would always see her at their school and participating in PTA. Bessie has always been known for her "Great Cooking Skills". Everyone in the family and community knows that you could go to Bessie Chrisp's house and get a down-home cooked meal if you were hungry or just wanted something good to eat, especially on Sundays. She made sure that her door was always open to anyone that wanted to stop by. Bessie was a member of the Extension Homemakers of Alamance County where she was able to sharpen her skills of canning and freezing fruits and vegetables. This was done so that she could make her cobblers and cakes for her family and friends along with having fresh vegetables to prepare for her home-cooked meals. She was able to make canned peaches for Ryan and homemade pickles this summer for her family one last time. She never met a stranger, and she loved everyone as if they were a member of her family.

Bessie was preceded in death by her husband James J. Chrisp, her parents Coy & Louise Bradsher, brothers Odie Bradsher (Mildred), Jess Bradsher (Ida) and Robert Bradsher (Dorothy), brother-in-law, Garfield Mims.

She leaves to cherish her legacy and memory her two children, James Perry Chrisp (Malia), Devonia Chrisp Daye (Kyle) all of Burlington, NC. Four grandchildren whom she loved and cherished, Jerrod Chrisp (Virginia Beach, VA), Ryan Daye (Brooklyn, NY), Khaila Daye (Burlington, NC), Jayla Chrisp (Charlotte, NC) and one great -grandson, Marcos Chrisp (Virginia Beach VA). Two sisters Mary Mims (Green Level, NC) and Denise Wright (Lloyd) of Cedar Grove, NC and one brother Ronnie McAdoo of Hillsborough, NC. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends whom she treasured dearly.
