Bessie (Bess) Kessler peacefully passed away on August 1, 2025. She was born on May 16, 1941, to Roy and Linnie Click in Three Rivers, Texas.

Bess dedicated her career to public service, retiring from the United States Postal Service in 1992 after 27 years of devoted service. She began her postal journey on November 6, 1965, at the Main Post Office at Lancaster and Jennings in Fort Worth, Texas. Starting as a substitute clerk, her exceptional skills and work ethic led to her promotion as Supervisor of Mail Processing in 1971, and she continued to ascend through various leadership positions, ultimately retiring in Memphis, Tennessee, as a Postal Career Executive (PCES) and serving as the Division Director of Field Operations.

In addition to her postal career, Bess worked briefly as a Realtor with Orr and Associates and successfully founded a bondsman company. For 19 years, she was a dedicated Tax Preparer at H&R Block in Burleson, Texas.

Bess raised three sons as a single parent before sharing a loving marriage with Howard Kessler for 34 years. Known for her outgoing nature and zest for life, Bess was deeply committed to helping others and enjoyed activities such as dancing. She was a valued member of Victory Family Church.

Bess was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Kessler; sisters Ruby Parks and Pauline Thomas; brothers Roy Good and Howard Click; as well as her niece Milinda Thomas and nephew RE Thomas.

She is survived by her sons: Don and wife Cecilia Coontz of Katy, Texas; David and wife Denise of Burleson, Texas; and John Derrick and wife Rhonda Coontz of Azle, Texas. Bess is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Dunbar; four grandchildren: Kendall, Kelly, Ashley, and Lindey; three great-grandchildren: Kingston, Madeleine, and MacKenna; ten step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces, all of whom she cherished dearly.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s's Children's Hospital.

Visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Home in Burleson, Texas, on August 15, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for August 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same location, followed by a graveside service at Burleson Cemetery.
