In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Matriarch
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Bessie Rae Natt, passed away on June 24, 2025, at the age of 85. Born in Greenville NC, on November 9, 1939, to Martha Worthington and Johnny Best, she was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion, Bessie's life was a testament to grace, generosity, and enduring love.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are comforted by the love she gave so freely and the life she lived with quiet strength and deep compassion.
She was a woman of grace, gentle in spirit yet unwavering in her devotion to family. A natural nurturer. She raised eight children of her own and lovingly opened her heart and home to adopt three more. Her legacy of care didn't end there. She also played a vital role in raising seven of her grandchildren, offering them the same love, wisdom, and comfort she gave to all who knew her. Home was a sanctuary for many. Those who came to her in time of need often became family, drawn in by her warmth and unconditional support.
Despite her shy nature and deep sense of pride, she gave more than she ever received and never asked for anything in return. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her kindness touched lives in ways that words can hardly express.
She leaves behind her beloved children: Joe (Wanda), Linda, Darlene, Lorraine (Kelvin), Keith (Carl), Troy (Persena), Venice, Darryl (Michelle), Robert, and Princess. Her brother Kevin Gomez, her only nephew Johnny Matthews, her 5 nieces. She was a proud grandmother of over 30 grandchildren, great-grandmother, She also leaves behind extended family, and a host of friends who loved her dearly.
She is now united in eternal peace with her loving husband, Howard Natt; her parents, Israel "Johnny" Best, Martha Worthington-Gomez, and step dad Heriberto Gomez; her brother Nathaniel Gomez, her youngest daughter Mia; and her beloved sisters, Mary and Selma.
Bessie's family has given the privilege of caring for her and for them to the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in the funeral home chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 2 pm. Interment to take place at Sunset Memory Gardens in Charlotte.
