Beth Boutell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Penzien-Steele Funeral Home - In Bay City on Feb. 18, 2025.
Beth Ann Boutell, formerly Beth Ann Young, of Linwood, Michigan, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the age of 65, with her loving family right by her side holding her hands tightly. Beth was born on February 1, 1960, otherwise known as "Bethuary," so it's all too fitting that she came and went in the same month. Beth is survived by the love of her life and husband of almost 37 years, Timothy "Lucky Man" Boutell; her two beloved daughters, Kendell Boutell and Kristiana Boutell (John) Reardon, and her two treasured grandchildren, Emma Beth and Connor John Reardon. In addition to her immediate family, Beth is also survived by her mother, Judy (Bill) Finn, her siblings, Patti (Robert) Ingle, Jamie Young, and Cathy (Dwight) DuFort; her sister-in-law, Betsy (Mark Lehn) Boutell; her nephews Shawn (Jessie) Petersilge, Padraic "P.J." Ingle, Joshua Ingle, Nicholis (Kathryn) Ingle, and Tanner DuFort; her nieces Patrice (Leston Lewis) Ingle and Malerie Beth (fiancé Brady Countegan) Young, and several great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Beth is preceded in death by her father, James Young; father-in-law, William Boutell; mother-in-law, Nancy Boutell; and nephew, Brandon Hurn.
Beth was born and raised in Bay City, Michigan. She graduated from Handy High School in 1978 and almost immediately started her career in the fashion industry – working at department stores and bridal salons. Beth met her husband through friends on the night before Thanksgiving 42 years ago, and they married in 1988. After welcoming their first child in 1989, Beth retired from the fashion industry and started her new career as a stay-at-home mom. With the arrival of her second daughter in 1990, Beth quickly settled into and succeeded in her new role as supermom, from chaperoning field trips and school events to volunteering at popcorn day, she was a constant, valued presence in her children's lives and their friends' lives. She never missed a sports game, school performance, dance recital, or award ceremony. Dubbed the alter ego Sally, Beth was always the life of the party wherever she went. There wasn't a person in the world she couldn't make laugh or a one-liner she couldn't create. Her intelligence was intimidating – at times answering Jeopardy questions quicker than Alex Trebek could finish the question. Beth thoroughly enjoyed socializing, music (especially Janis Joplin, CCR, and Kid Rock), Detroit sports, golf, and of course the casino. She was a fabulous cook and an even better hostess. When Beth wasn't caring for her family, she was caring for others. Beth was an avid supporter of too many community organizations to count throughout her years, most recently serving on the Board of the Rachel Sovereign Memorial Home for Women. Now at peace, it's time for you to Ride Sally, Ride.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bay City, Michigan at 4:00 p.m., with the family welcoming visitors beforehand from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A celebration of life will occur immediately following the conclusion of the memorial service at the DoubleTree by Hilton. In lieu of flowers, Beth's family asks that you honor her compassion for others and make donations to charity in her memory. Some of Beth's favorite charity organizations include the Rachel Sovereign Memorial Home, Shriner's Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Ronald McDonald House Charities – Detroit, or the Alzheimer's Association.

It's Jan. 2026 and I just learned of this loss. I was telling some friends about a couple of the best moms I knew when I was at St. Anne School. Mrs. Boutell was first in my thoughts so I had to do a search. I was the preschool teacher and Mrs Boutell was always eager and excited to help out with the children. She was very bright, funny, warm and nurturing. When I first began work at St. Anne she was one of the first people to be truly friendly to me. And I have to add that I especially looked forward to the days when it was her turn to bring snack to school because she brought delicious homemade treats made with love. I'm so very sorry this beautiful woman is gone and I will say a prayer for her tonight and I know she is watching over her beloved family. God bless you. Ms. Lauren

To all of Beth's family and friends, our deepest condolences. My family were friends with the Young's going way back when our children were very young. Beth was a beautiful sweet bright girl. May the peace of God that passes all understanding keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus. Carol Richardson, Gloria. Corinne, Robert Paul
