Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nichols Funeral Home, Inc. - Wilmington on Apr. 21, 2025.
With full hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, Great Grammy, and friend, Beth Wicks, who passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on April 18, 2025.
Born on June 2, 1931, in Winchester, Massachusetts, Beth was an only child. She graduated from Winchester High School, class of 1950, and Katharine Gibbs College.
Beth married Ted Wicks, and they settled in
Wilmington, MA, where they were life-long members of the Wilmington United Methodist Church. They lived in Wilmington until 1991, when they split their time between Hedding, a Methodist campground in Epping, NH and their winter home in Clearwater, FL.
Beth worked at the Winchester Library for many years and was one of the earliest Town Crier workers alongside Larz Neilson. She also worked at Allgrove Nursery with Arthur for many years. Beth lived a long, joyful life centered on family, community, and simple pleasures. She was a devoted and life-long member of the Hedding Community, where she found deep purpose and lasting friendships through decades of service and connection.
Beth had a poet's heart-she found beauty in everyday moments and expressed herself through verse, which she shared with those lucky enough to hear her words. On weekends, you could often find her exploring local yard sales, always on the hunt for a hidden treasure and a good story. You could always hear her exclaiming "it was only a nickel; I couldn't leave it there". Her warm smile and keen eye and unmatched chocolate chip cookies, made her a beloved fixture in the neighborhood.
She will be remembered for her boundless kindness, her love of playing cards and conversation, and her talent for turning the simplest gathering into something special. She had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued-a gift she gave freely.
Beth was the beloved wife of the late Theodore R. "Ted" Wicks, devoted mother of Ted D. Wicks & his late wife Laurel of Billerica, Peter Wicks & his wife Anna of Sandown, NH, Kristine Stone & her husband David, Jennifer Lamb & her late husband John all of Wilmington and Melinda Doherty & her husband Steve of Sturbridge, loving "Grammie" of Wendy Todd & her husband Aaron, Albee Wicks & his wife Kristan, Kyle Wicks & his wife Kristin Haglund, Matt Stone & his wife Lynne, Eric Stone, Alexa Stone, Jami Stoll & her husband Brad, Jason Blackburn & his wife Jamie, Shandra Wall & her husband Steve, Matt Lamb & his wife Rosie, Celine & Madison Doherty, "Great-Grammie" of Charlie, Lily, Brendan, Kira, Killian, Oliver, Lily, Charlotte, Avery, Zoe, Wyatt, Guinevere, and Vincent. Beth is also survived by her cousins, Judy Cleveland and Carrie Cleveland Royster.
