Bettie Jeanne Noah

Bettie Jeanne (Coleman) Noah, of Independence, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. She was 98 years of age.
Bettie was born on August 14, 1924, to William and Cora (Driskell) Coleman in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Central High School in Kansas City in 1941. In 1944, during WWII, Bettie enlisted in the Navy. She served as a Yeoman 2nd class, until she was honorably discharged out of Pensacola, FL in August 1946.
Returning to Kansas City, she enjoyed a favorite pastime of going to the Play-More roller rink, where she met Bill Noah. They married in June of 1952, and by 1954 were off to "the farm" in Eastern Jackson County where friends and family knew they were welcome. Bettie spent most of her adult like working in the accounting offices of Montgomery Ward and Sears Roebuck. But work never interfered with being a part of her daughter, Marcia Dee's, activities at school and church. Bettie was a very active member of New Salem Baptist Church since 1954. Always involved in Women's missionary union, teaching Sunday school, girl's auxiliary, and vacation bible school. She served on many committees throughout the years, and always served where needed. Bettie bowled on work and church leagues and she and Bill bowled on many leagues together. There were also the years of going to the midget auto races every weekend as Bill served on a "pit crew". After retirement this turned into traveling to NASCAR races in their motorhome. Bettie and Bill loved for family and friends to come fish or to just sit and chat. This turned into annual events on Memorial Day Weekend. Bettie loved family and only missed "maybe" one of the 75 years of Driskell reunions where she saw her aunts, uncles, and cousins. While in later years, Bettie made matching outfits for her granddaughter's and their dolls. Bettie was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, attending every special event possible. Her family meant the world to her. In latter years, Bettie enjoyed daily dining and activities with her companion, Ralph Hamline.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Cora (Driskell) Coleman; her husband, William L. Noah; her companion, Ralph Hamline; five sisters, and one brother. She is survived by her daughter; Marcia Dee (Tom) Sterrett, her granddaughters; Tammy Vaughn and Jennifer (Jeff) Davis, her great-grandson; Nick Trease, great-granddaughters; Jillian Epperson and Jordan Davis, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, at Speaks Suburban Chapel from 6-8pm. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 5th, 2023, at Speaks Suburban Chapel at 1:00pm, followed by burial with military honors at New Salem Cemetery.
