Benson, NC: Betty Eason Aiken, 88, of Benson died on October 5th, 2024 at her home with her family by her side. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00PM-Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 at the Benson Global Methodist Church in Benson. The Rev. Billy Olsen is to officiate. A private burial will be at a later date.
Mrs. Aiken was born March 13, 1936 in Johnston County. She was the daughter of the late Romless T. and Lyda McCabe Eason. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter Aiken; her brothers, Romie Eason and Randy Eason, and her sister, JoAnn McGee.
Mrs. Aiken retired from the Johnston County Clerk of Courts, Estates Division. She loved helping others and previously worked as the receptionist at the Wake County Courthouse, a chiropractic nurse and at the Wake and Johnston County Clerk of Courts, Estates Division.
Mrs. Aiken was a member of the Benson Global Methodist Church, where she served in a number of different capacities. She served as President of United Methodist Women and other areas of ministry. Until the last couple of years, she was active in the Daughters of 1812, Daughters of Confederacy, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Aiken was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to garden, dance, play bridge, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters Anita Aiken, of Benson, and Wendy Aiken Collins, of Angier; her grandson, David Hunter Collins and wife Jenna, her granddaughter, Krista Collins Fowler and husband Austin; her two great-grandchildren, Mary Hunter Fowler, Evan Hunter Collins and soon to be Aiken Reid Fowler; a sister, RayNell Pearsall, of Wilmington, NC, and a brother, Dennis Eason, of Benson.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the Benson Global Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers; the family suggests that memorial donations be sent to Benson Global Methodist Church, P.O. Box 72, Benson, NC 27504 or a charity of your own choosing.
