Betty Jo Arnold, age 97 of Henderson, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior at her home on October 15, 2025, while she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 12, 1928, to Mary Kate Strong and Julian Royce Strong of Church Hill. Betty grew up in Church Hill where she attended school until 9th grade. She loved living on the farm and taking care of the animals. They later moved to Henderson where she attended Henderson High School and graduated in 1945. After graduation, she received a degree in business and began working for the telephone company. Soon after that, she met and married the love of her life, Dalton Eugene Arnold. They were married in 1947 and shared a loving marriage of 57 years. Early in their marriage, Betty attended beauty school and opened her own shop, "Betty's Style Mart" and later added a dress shop, "The Clothes Horse." She was in business for 50 years.
Betty was a faithful member of St. Paul's Church of Henderson for 65 years. She served as President of the Methodist Women's Group, served as a board member, and taught children's Sunday School. One of her favorite things was decorating the church for special events and holidays. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She loved game nights at church, was an avid 42 player, and she loved opening her home for parties and Christmas with family. Betty and her best friend for over 40 years, Marilyn Johnson, enjoyed traveling, shopping and loved going dancing!
Anyone who ever met Betty knows she never missed a chance to send a card – be it for a birthday, Christmas, a get-well wish, or just to say she was thinking of you. She had a constant care and concern for others. She touched everyone she knew with her kindness, love and beautiful smile. Betty was a devoted supporter of her kids and grandchildren and, she will be missed deeply by everyone who knew her.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dalton Eugene Arnold; her parents, Julian and Mary Kate Strong; her younger sister, Mary Gordon; and also her cherished friend, Jeff Sewell.
Betty is survived by her children, Mike and Janet Arnold, Kathy and Chris Dunn, and Karla and Gary Johnson; grandchildren, Scott and Elisabeth Arnold, Jason and Lorie Arnold, Kelsey and Erin Walter, Josh and Katie Andrus, Kalli and Korey Hodges; great-grandchildren, Caroline Arnold and Caleb Graves, Kaitlyn Arnold, Graham, Caroline and Mary Ellen Andrus, and Harvey Hodges; great, great-grandson Sawyer Graves and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family extends a heartfelt gratitude to Jessica Renfrow for all of the love and exceptional care she extended to Betty during this time. Betty Boop loved her Jessica! Also, a great thank you to Tachina Wiggins for always being so kind and helpful. Thank you to Kayla Reynnolds, Robert Fry and Angel Care Hospice for your compassion, kindness and support for Betty and our family.
