John Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crawford-A Crim Funeral Home from Oct. 14 to Oct. 15, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Today we celebrate the life of a man whose strength, laughter, and love shaped all of us – John Louis Moore. Graveside services for Mr. Moore, 81, of Tatum, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Stewart Cemetery with Troy Sunday officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, October 16, at the funeral home.
Mr. Moore passed from this life on October 13, 2025, in Longview. He was born February 17, 1944, in Henderson to the late Louis and Ruby (Acrey) Moore and spent his formative years in Sacul. John went on to graduate from Henderson High School in 1962 and then attended Kilgore College where he studied metallurgy and graduated in 1964. In 1975, Mr. Moore took a job with Texas Utilities and moved his family to Tatum. He spent the next 24 years as a Supervisor with TXU and retired in 1999. John was a man who knew how to work, and retirement really meant moving on to another career. He and his beloved Johnnie Ann opened 3M Tire Shop which they owned and operated until 2011, after which he went to work for Precinct 2 in Rusk County.
John was a man of quiet determination and unwavering work ethic. Whatever he put his hands to, he did with pride and purpose. He showed us the value of hard work, not through words, but through example – day after day, year after year. But beyond his hard work, what we'll remember most is his humor. He had a way of making us laugh when we needed it most – a quick joke, a mischievous grin, or a story that made everyone in the room smile. His laughter filled the spaces of our lives and made even ordinary days feel special.
As a husband, father, and grandfather, he was steadfast and loving. His family was his pride and joy. He gave his time, his wisdom, and his heart without hesitation. He showed us what it means to love deeply, to stand strong, and to simply just live. Though our hearts ache today, we take comfort knowing that his legacy lives on in each of us – in our values, our laughter, and the love we share. We are made better because we had him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Johnnie Ann Moore, and his sons Jerry Glenn Moore and Michael Keith Moore.
Survivors include his son Dustin Moore and wife Callie of Tatum; grandchildren Brittaney LaGrone and husband Jordan. Danielle Aiken and husband Scott, Autumn Moore and husband Isaac Gurrola, Colton Moore, Jordon Louis Moore, Samantha Moore, Katelyn Wallace and husband Zachery, and Lylah Allee, all of Tatum; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brailey, Brighton, Averi, Haylee, Kaylee, and Isaac; brother Jerry Moore and wife Barbara of East Mountain; life-long friend Donnie McRae and wife Pam of Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jordan LaGrone, Isaac Gurrola, Scott Aiken, Zachery Wallace, Jeff Rumbo, and Justin Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Tillison, Donnie McRae, and Devyn Sumners.
