Service for Betty June Birchfield Rutledge, 88, of Cleburne, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 14, 2025 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel, 512 N. Ridgeway, Cleburne, Texas 76033. Interment will follow in Rio Vista Cemetery. A visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, October 13, 2025 at the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. Glenn Lathers, Chris Lathers, Kenn Lathers, Camden Lathers, Dawson Lathers, Dylan Lathers and Robert Young will serve as pallbearers.
Betty, a beloved figure in the lives of many, left this world on October 8, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on July 1, 1937, in Hillsboro, Texas, Betty brought joy and warmth to those around her through her unwavering faith and loving spirit.
A devoted Christian, Betty found great solace in her Faith, often dedicating her time to singing and reading her Bible. She was a beacon of light, inspiring her family and friends with her deep-rooted belief and kindness. Betty's devotion extended beyond her faith; she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, particularly relishing fishing trips that created cherished memories and bonds that will last a lifetime.
Betty's love for cooking and baking was well-known among her family. Whether crafting delightful meals or creating treasured confections, she shared her passion for food with those she loved, often gathering them around her table for shared meals infused with warmth and laughter.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Athey Herbert and Ora Cecil (Kellum) Shirley; her husband Herschel Birchhfied; brothers, Gene Shirley, Walter Shirley, Lawerence Shirley, Buddy Shirley and sister Christine Griffin.
Betty is survived by her children, Robby Kent and wife Kendra, Juanita "Sissy" Baxter; grandchildren, Patricia Robinson, Glenn Lathers and wife Natasha, Kenn Lathers and wife Wendy, Chris Lathers, Will Kent, Rowdy Kent; 17 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; lifelong best friend, Meridith Sowell.
Her journey through life, marked by her faith, family, and will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know her. Betty June Birchfield Rutledge will be deeply missed but her legacy of love and devotion will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
