Services for Cecil Elvin Ellis, 82, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2025, in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Rosser Funeral Home.
Cecil Ellis passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born in Fort Worth on November 13, 1942, the son of Beulah Brunette (Aaron) and James Elvin Ellis.
Cecil served his country in the United States Navy for 6 ½ years on two ships, The Constellation and The Saratoga CV60. During this time, he travelled to Viet Nam, Spain, Hawaii, and Japan. After his military service Cecil wore many hats, truck driver for CF - 20 years, as the manager and cook of The Redwood Restaurant - 4 years, Cleburne ISD Maintenance - 5 years, Cleburne Memorial Hospital - 7 years, and a volunteer for Walls Hospital - 2 years.
His hobbies included drinking coffee, fishing, playing computer games, taking tomatoes from the garden to eat with his grandkids, feeding the ducks at Buddy Stewart Park and watching the rain. Cecil also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, the Aggies, and the Texas Rangers.
He is preceded in death by his son, Eddie Ellis; grandson, Sterling Freeman; first wife, Ann Ellis; parents, Beulah and James Ellis; and both sets of grandparents.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sue Ellis; sons, James Ellis and wife, Lisa, of Comanche, Texas, Phillip Ellis of Cleburne, Michael Ellis and wife, Brandy, also of Cleburne, Michael Cogdill and girlfriend, Sonja, of Granbury, Texas, Donnie Freeman of Chico, Texas, and David Millikan and wife, April, of Fort Worth; daughters, Lynett Peters and husband, Daniel, Brandy Featherson and fiancé, Robert, and Connie Coppock, all of Cleburne; 31 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way; cousins, Jackie Tunink, Wayne Stall, and Millie Brinkman, all of Alabama; his beloved four legged fur baby, Baby Girl; and a host of other family members and friends.
