Betty Lou Brierly of Nora Springs, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the age of 89, in Mason City, Iowa, the same town where she was born on August 30, 1935.
Per her wishes, no services will be held
Betty attended Mason City Schools where she formed lifelong friendships. She was united in marriage to Gale Brierly January 4, 1952 in Hampton, Iowa. Together they raised a loving family.
Betty is survived by her children, Marilynn Ritter, Kathy Brierly, Susan Brierly, Patty Book, Dennis Brierly, and Barry Brierly; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Gale, and her sons, Randy Brierly, Terry "Fritz" Brierly, and Howard Brierly; as well as brothers and sisters. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have been part of her life.
Professionally, Betty dedicated 17 years of service as a clerk at Hardware Hank, where her hard work and cheerful demeanor were appreciated by colleagues and customers alike. She was also a dedicated member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 0449 in Nora Springs, where she contributed her time and talents to support veterans and their families.
Betty's role as a devoted housewife was one she cherished deeply. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and welcoming, always open to friends, family, and neighbors. She had a passion for shopping and enjoyed taking days out on the town.
