Betty Ann Caranfa, 77, a vibrant spirit who embraced life and touched many people, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025.
Born on May 29, 1948, Betty Ann grew up in Southwest Philadelphia with her parents William and Marion Caranfa and her brothers and sisters. She attended Mercy Technical School on Broad Street and Columbia Avenue with her good friends Patty, Cathy and Rita, riding the trolley to and from school, and learning to be a hairstylist (she always said she was a better colorist than stylist).
After graduating in 1966, she married and had her children Bill, Jack and Amy, only returning to school later on to get her teacher's license for cosmetology. She was a gifted hair stylist and instructor at Venus Beauty Academy and Gordon Phillips Beauty School. She kept her students engaged with her animated teaching style and her ability to explain things clearly and with flair.
Betty Ann was an original in the best sense of the word. She was caring and charismatic. She was a cherished friend and a good listener. She would make you laugh and embraced life's adventures both good and bad. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration for Betty Ann will be held on August 21st at the Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954 (at Holland Rd), from 10:00am until the Prayer Service at 12:00pm, then followed by a gathering afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/donate.html)
