Elizabeth J. Cave (Betty), the loving daughter of the late William and Julia Ledwith Coolidge, entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 88, on September 6, 2025 while under the care of her family and High Peaks Hospice.
She lived her life with a sunny disposition, a zest for life, and an unwavering faith in God.
She was born in the Glen on the Coolidge Homestead in Jay, NY which always held the fondest spot in her heart. She referred to the Farm as "Heaven on Earth". She loved to run in the open fields, making maple syrup in the sugar house, drinking her Dad's homemade root beer, and playing jokes on the farm hands. Her good memories never wavered and her greatest wish was to be back on the homestead.
She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Her family was always her greatest joy and accomplishment. She took great pride in their endeavors and treasured them all with a steadfast love. Her faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life, always guiding her actions, providing her comfort, and inspiring those around her.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she faithfully attended for over 60 years. She had many roles during the years, including Sunday School Teacher, nursery worker, and church treasurer. She was always a devoted supporter of Adirondack Christian School, where she delighted in having a child, grandchild, or great grandchild attend since the school was opened in 1967.
Betty worked in a variety of jobs in the hospitality field including the Ausable Valley Telephone Office, the KOA, Rulfs Orchard, and Whiteface Mountain. No matter where she worked she loved to socialize; she cared deeply about her clients and coworkers who always enjoyed her fun, loving spirit and commented "she was their favorite to work with". While she enjoyed working in the community, nothing ever overshadowed her time spent watching children, which was one of her most abundant blessings.
Betty's greatest legacy, which impacted the lives of everyone who knew and loved her, was her love for God. Her calm demeanor, willingness to put others' needs above her own, the constant love and care she freely offered, and her faithfulness, all pointed to a Christ centered life.
She was also predeceased by her brother William Coolidge II, sister-in-law Janet Coolidge, sister, Beatrice Pelkey, brother-in-law, Raymond (Lee) Pelkey, brother-in-law, Chester Furnia, grandson Mathew Cave, grandson Joshua Cave, and former husband Donald Cave.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Robert (Amy) Cave, James (Laurie) Cave, Tammy (James) Madden, and Richard (Alice) Cave; Her grandchildren, Rebecca Bissell (Christian), Rachel (Cody) Greenley, Michal (Eddie) Borden, Naomi Cave (Gaetan), Kristy (Harold) Akey, Kirsten Thompson, Makenzie (Sean) Pulsifer, Makayla (Roger) Preston, Terrence Madden, James (JJ) Madden, Danielle Cave (Phillip Lawrence), Elisabeth Cave (Richard Felix), and Kayla Cave; Her Great grandchildren Caidogan Greenley, Oliver, Wyatt, and Luke Borden, Cameron, Kylie, Connor, and Haley Akey, Madison, McKenna, Levi, Isaac, Ruth, and Brynlee Thompson, Lexi Pulsifer, Paisley, and Lakelynn Preston, John and Samuel Lawrence, and Esme' Stewart; her brother Robert Coolidge (Ronnie), former sister-in-law, Maria Coolidge; Nephews and Nieces, Stephen (Kelly) Furnia, William Coolidge III, Calvin (Patricia) Coolidge, Michael Coolidge, Jerry Pelkey, Russell (Kim) Coolidge, and Robbie (Mary) Coolidge, Julie (Richard) Burns, Elizabeth (Martin) LaRose, and Kelley Reynolds; and many great nephews and nieces, cousins, and extended Benway family who she cared for dearly.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life in her memory at Calvary Baptist Church 6065 Rte 86 Wilmington, NY on Sunday September 14, 2025 starting at 2 PM with a lunch reception to follow. If you'd like to wear red or pink in her honor, those were two of her favorite colors!
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Betty's memory to Adirondack Christian School www.adkcs.com.
"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10.
