Ms. Betty Jean Copeland Byrd, 87, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at her home in Seale, AL
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Seale United Methodist Church in Seale, AL with Rev. Markus Hammonds officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Ms. Byrd was born November 8, 1934 in Ft. Payne, AL, daughter of the late Luther Copeland and Vera Barkley Copeland. She retired from the Infantry Magazine, where she was an Editorial Assistant, with over 35 years of service. She loved sewing, watching movies (especially The Godfather), reading her Bible, and sharing her faith, but most of all she loved time with her family. She had famous cinnamon rolls, the best baked bread, and an infectious cackle. Ms. Byrd attended Golden Acres Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Cooper; and three brothers, Hiram Copeland, Orvin Copeland and Doyle Copeland; her former spouse, Sydney Royce Byrd.
Ms. Byrd is survived by her sister Juanita Carrol of Dothan, AL; two daughters, Michelle Morgan and husband Tom of Seale, AL and Renee Ippolito of Milton, FL; two sons, Kelly Byrd and wife Tammy of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and John Byrd and wife Gayle of Seale, AL; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seale United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 128, Seale, AL 36875.
