Elizabeth Ann "Betty" DeCare, 77, of Herron, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024. Born on November 11, 1946, in Alpena, Betty spent her lifetime nurturing the earth and the hearts of those around her.
Betty was the cherished matriarch of a large and loving family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, William, and a guiding light to her children, Barbara (Ken) Cox, Bryan (Nancy) DeCare, Bruce (Becky) DeCare, and Brenda (Terry) Dorr. Her wisdom and warmth were a comfort to her brother, Louis Evans. Betty's life was further enriched by the joy brought to her by her grandchildren, Clarissa, Troy, Zac, Kyrstin, Tyler, Angelina, Samantha, Christine, Odin, Harper, Harlow, Raven, Tucker, Kaylie, Kourtnea, and Lyndsea, along with 7 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her loving parents, Russel and Abigale Evans; her brother, James Evans; and sisters, Evelyn Johnson and Jean Fournier, Betty's memory will be cherished through the stories and love shared by her extensive family.
A proud homemaker, Betty dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends. Her home was full of love, laughter, and countless memories. Betty's hands, always busy, was proof of her dedication to her family and her passions.
Betty's love for farming and gardening was evident to all who knew her. Her gardens were filled with flowers and plants that reflected the care and attention she poured into every aspect of her life. She found peace and joy in the simplicity of nature, the turning of the seasons, and the harvests that mirrored the hard work and love.
An avid reader, Betty's imagination was often whisked away in one of the romantic scenes through her cherished collection of romance novels. She also found pleasure in a good challenging word search, a hobby that kept her mind sharp and provided hours of quiet enjoyment.
Above all, Betty will be remembered for the love she held for her family. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye, and she relished every moment spent with them. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she celebrated their achievements and milestones with the same pride and affection as if they were her own.
Betty is at McWilliams Funeral Home where family will receive visitors on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, visitation will resume on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 12:00 PM until the time of service at 1:00 PM with Rev. Chris LaPlaunt officiating.
