Betty Dowis passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, just days after celebrating her 96th birthday. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Adam and Mary Sauer, Betty lived a life filled with love, devotion, and service to her family and community.
Betty’s journey took a memorable turn at age 14 when she met the love of her life, Graydon Dowis while working part-time at the carnival owned by Graydon's family. Their shared story became the foundation of a beautiful marriage. Together, they lived in Boulder, Colorado, while Graydon completed law school and later made their home in Sterling, Colorado, where Graydon practiced law, and Betty supported their growing family.
Betty and Graydon were blessed with three children: Teresa, Thomas, and Daniel, and cherished three grandchildren: Kaitlin, Jacob, and Shauna. Family was at the heart of Betty’s life, and her warmth and strength created a lasting legacy for those who knew and loved her.
In later years, Betty and Graydon relocated to Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where they lived happily until Graydon’s passing in 2019. Betty remained active in her community, contributing to her church and the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic educational organization close to her heart.
Betty’s grace, kindness, and unwavering faith will be remembered by all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in the thought that she is now reunited with Graydon, the love of her life.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be scheduled in 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be sent to St. Luke's United Methodist Church located at 8817 S. Broadway, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129, in her honor.
