Mrs. Betty Ruth Martin Draughon, 89, of Mount Airy, departed this life peacefully on Monday night, August 18, 2025, after a brief illness. Mrs. Draughon was born November 3, 1935, in Randolph County, one of nine children born to the late Leonard Berryman “Len” and Ruth Irene Walker Martin. On October 28, 1953, Betty married Lewis Allen Draughon, and together they were a part of the Cadle Ford Road community for 69 years. A devoted homemaker throughout her life, Betty poured her heart into her family and home, offering warmth, kindness, and quiet strength to all who knew her. She lived a life of faith and service, grounded in her unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ, and was a charter member of Christ Community Church. Over the years, Betty served her church family in countless ways, always willing to help, whether behind the scenes or in quiet acts of support. Her humble spirit and gentle presence left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. Though soft spoken, her life spoke volumes. Betty will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her loving heart, and the simple grace with which she moved through the world. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis Allen Draughon, Jr. and Karen and Mark Edward Draughon and Patricia; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Greg Hampson; her grandchildren, Dustin Draughon and Elisabeth, Zachary Draughon and Jenny, and Daniel Draughn and Shay; and her great-grandchildren, Jane Draughon, Mack Draughon, Hayden Draughon, and Millie Draughon.
