Betty Knechel

Martha Elizabeth Knechel, of Lambertville, NJ, died on Sunday, February 2, 2025. She was 95 years old.
Known to all as "Betty", she was a lifelong Lambertville resident. She was a graduate of Lambertville High School. As a young woman she worked at Belmont Forwarders. Later she worked as an assistant librarian at the Lambertville Public Library where she went daily until she turned 90. It was an ideal position for Betty. She was an avid reader and was seldom seen without a book close at hand. Betty and her husband Orville enjoyed bowling
and participated in several area leagues. A skilled needle crafter, Betty could sew, knit crochet and turn out beautiful needlepoint. She was dedicated to her family, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Betty was the wife of the late Orville Knechel, the mother of the late Diane Knechel and the daughter of the late Mary Parrish. Betty is survived by her children and their families: her son Richard Knechel and his wife Donna and her daughter Cathy Runkle and her husband Barry; all of Lambertville; her grandchildren Gwen McNamara and her husband Dennis of Ringoes, Natalie Runkle and her fiancé Elle Shaw of Doylestown, Kristopher Knechel and his wife Tanvi Rastogi of Plymouth, Minnesota and Alexander Knechel and his wife Cassie of Hopewell, NJ; her 5 great-grandchildren Brendan, Madeline, Lorelei, Clementine and Karter. At the time of her passing Betty was looking forward to the birth of her sixth great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11 am at Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Rt. 29 South at Route 202 in Lambertville, NJ
