Betty Maxine Legg, age 93 years, passed away at Echo Hills Assisted Living on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024. She was born in Montgomery County, Iowa on November 8, 1930 to the late Oren and Dorothy (Donahue) Harris. For many years Betty worked for Area 13 as an Education curriculum lab manager. She traveled to schools in the southwest Iowa area with a trailer loaded with new educational materials. She demonstrated and assisted teachers in selecting new textbooks and learning tools for their classrooms. She enjoyed that so much. She loved meeting new people and helping anyone who needed it. Betty was all about family. She loved our holiday get togethers and any chance to have the family all together at home. She loved to cook and everything she made was amazingly delicious. Especially her pies which none of us could duplicate. Charles and Betty put all 3 children through college on their own. Betty was very proud of that. Her grandchildren all loved to spend time at grandma and grandpas. She was always excited for sleepovers with them and would play uno and board games with them for hours. Many days were spent watching her children and grandchildren at their sporting events and horse shows which she and Charles enjoyed so much.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold Harris; and daughter, Debora Rose.
Betty is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Ross (Jeanine) Legg and Lori (Larry) Pickett; brother, Duane (Katherine) Harris; grandchildren, Amy (Keith), Kristin (Dan), Brooke, Colton, Ryan (Aubrey), and Taylor (Matt); great grandchildren: Caitlyn, Samuel, Lenora, Holly and one on the way; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. with special remarks to begin at 4:30p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home.
1221 North 16th Street, Council Bluffs, IA 51501-0143
