Betty Herring Mize

Betty Louise (Herring) Mize, aged 92, peacefully departed this life, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Morningside of Anderson. She was born in Anderson, SC, on October 25, 1933, to the late Roscoe Monroe Herring and the late Jessie Irene Whitfield. A graduate of Anderson Girls High, she pursued her artistic studies in the Midwest.

Betty was not only a gifted artist but an enthusiastic golfer. Most importantly, she held her family dear and treasured the moments spent with them. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

After sixty-three years of marriage, Betty was preceded in death by her late husband, George Theron Mize, who left this life in 2015. She is survived by her children; George Dennis Mize (Glenda), Jerry Lee Mize (Jennifer), David Stephen Mize (Becky), Melissa Louise Mize, Amy Mize Able (Kevin), and Becky Louise Mize; her grandchildren, Jeremy Mize (Sheena MacOmson), Sarah Andrews (David), Jerry Lee Mize, II (Matt Smith), Stacy Young (Paul), Stephanie Winegardner (Andrew), Aaron Mize, Caitlin Louise Mize, Candace Able Lemieux (Alex), Emily Louise Able (Patrick Bond) and James Theron Able; and her great-grandchildren, Lillian Mize, David Andrews, McKayla McCormick, Phelan Young, Irelynn Young, Eliora Cole, James Cole, Priscilla Winegardner and Andrew Winegardner; along with other extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hugh Edward "Jack" Herring and E.T. "Red" Herring, and her sisters, Ruth Isal Mullikin and Elizabeth Ann Donald.

A private family service was held on November 8, 2025.
