Betty Morgan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by High Point Funeral Home & Crematorium on Nov. 24, 2025.

Betty Jo Parks Morgan of Olive Branch, Mississippi, led a long and full life of 89 years and has now entered her eternal home with Jesus and is reunited with her beloved husband, James. Betty Jo was born in Dockery, MS, on March 8, 1936, and passed peacefully in Como, MS, on November 19, 2025.

Betty Jo was the daughter of Thomas Arthur and Essie Lou Parks. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years, James Turner Morgan; and siblings Mary Margarette "Sister" Wilkerson, Marie Mullikin, June Wigley, H.D. "Sonny" Parks, T.A. Parks, and Janet Joyner. She is survived by her brothers Wesley Parks (Betty Jean) and Wayne Parks (Glenda) and leaves behind her five children: James Turner Morgan, Jr. (Lori Carter Morgan) of Williston, TN; David Earl Morgan (Janice Bonner Morgan) of Como, MS; Bobby Joe Morgan (Lori Sneed Morgan) of Bartlett, TN; Thomas Clinton Morgan of Ruleville, MS; and Vickie Morgan Sneed (Norman Ray Sneed) of Memphis, TN.

She also leaves behind a legacy of 15 grandchildren - David Morgan Jr., T.A. Morgan, Tracie Morgan Motter, Shannon Morgan, Christopher Morgan, Aaron Morgan, Brent Sneed, Michael Morgan, Dana Sneed, Andrew Morgan, Kelsey Sneed Ruth, Heather Morgan German, Brittany Sneed, Samuel Morgan, and Hannah Morgan - as well as 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Betty Jo worked for Lichterman Shoes in Memphis, TN, until James retired in 1982, when they moved to Carroll County, MS, and built a home on 55 acres where they lived for 31 years. Her life was devoted to her family, her faith, and the joys of home. She loved camping with family, playing cards, reading, cross-stitching, gardening, and growing flowers of every kind. Summers at the farm were filled with her children and grandchildren, making lifelong memories they will always treasure. Betty Jo especially loved hosting her children and their families at Thanksgiving each year. Her unwavering devotion to her family transcended distance, reflected in the regular phone calls, letters, and cards she made a priority throughout her life.

Faith was central to Betty's life and shaped the woman she became. She demonstrated through her daily walk with Christ what it means to be a godly woman, a loving and respectful wife, and a supportive mother. Betty embodied the fruits of the Spirit-love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control-in all she did. She was an active member of Vaiden Baptist Church until she and James relocated to Olive Branch to be closer to family, where she became a member of Temple Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends and family for visitation on Friday, November 28, 2025, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. The visitation and Celebration will both be at Temple Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS.
Graveside services will follow at Memorial South Woods in Memphis, TN.
