It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Betty Jane (Payne) Munson's peaceful passing on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 4:15 a.m., at the wonderful age of 85. Our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend brought joy to everyone who knew her.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debra Lynne Singleton (Shelby), Dawn Annette Hayward (Scott), Janie Bell, Angie Young (Scott), Robert William Munson (Svetlana), and Amy Munson (Eric). She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her grandchildren, Scott Allen Milliken (Emily), Elizabeth Marie Miner (Josh), William Donald Hall, Belinda June Hall (Justin), Lawrence Hall (Brie), Michael Joseph Bell (Staci), William Jacob Bell, Lindsey Jane Hayward (Dimitri), Alexander Hilton Hayward (Hannah), Zachary Wilson Young (Grace), and Alisa Irina Munson. Betty was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Vanessa Lynne Hall, Kayden Bell, Whitlee Bell, Natalie Milliken, Chloe Milliken, Dominic Lowry, and Cadence Singleton; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sylvester Payne and Mildred Norris, and her siblings, Dorothy May Payne, Anne Edith Payne, David Sylvester Payne (who lovingly called her Booty), and Ronald Andrew Holland.
Betty's love for her family was immeasurable. She had a special way of remembering everyone's birthdays each month, reminding us of the love that binds us together. One of her greatest joys was traveling to Ireland, where she savored a Guinness and marveled at the lush green hills she had always dreamed of seeing. With a wonderful sense of humor, Betty always sought the good in everyone and every situation.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 30 at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel with visitation from 2 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will take place in Woodburn Cemetery.
She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
