Betty B. Payne, 97, of Lewis Center, Ohio went peacefully to heaven in the early morning of Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Kobacher House, Columbus, OH.
Betty was born in Guilford County, North Carolina on March 9, 1927, to the late Lewis David Payne and Effie Yates Payne.
Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Although she had none of her own, Betty loved everyone else's children and dogs. She was artistic and enjoyed crafts, especially with her group of friends at The Avalon. She was fun, kind, caring and always had a smile to share.
After 30 years, Betty retired from Western Electric, Columbus, OH.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Effie Payne; sisters Della Mae Farlow, Doris Payne Garrett, Edith Whaley, Iola Patterson and half-sister, Thelma Graves; brothers Dewey, David, Grayson and Bill Payne, half-brothers Frank and Paul Payne.
Surviving family include nieces, Martha Frazier of Raleigh, NC; Teresa McRae (Tommy) of Emerald Isle, NC; Tracy Mitchell; nephews Carl Garrett, Greensboro, NC, Don Farlow (Marlene), Keith Farlow (Donna), Richard Farlow (Lori), and Steve Payne.
Although not family, Betty was greatly loved by her friends Carol Rodgers; Scott & Jennifer Hayes; Nick Hayes; Kelly, Tom and Henry Wagner.
A memorial service will be held at the chapel at The Avalon of Lewis Center on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Chaplain Carl Huggler will officiate.
A private burial will be held at Claibourne Cemetery, Richwood, Ohio.
Donations may be made to Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, OH 43214, where Betty was cared for with much tenderness and respect.
