Betty Roach

Anna Marie (Betty) Roach, 95, a lifetime resident of Newport, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. She was a homemaker and in her later years, worked at the Westside Café and cleaning houses. Betty or "Betty Boop" as she was affectionately called, was the life of the party. She always had a great sense of humor and very witty. She loved life and lived each day to the fullest. She always said, "I love my life". She loved her flower gardens and made sure they were meticulous. Betty loved to decorate, especially for the holidays, decorating the recreation room and hallways of her apartment complex.
She was very involved in the USO during WWII, the Mother's Club at the former St. Vincent DePaul School in Newport and served on various committees, and was a member of the Bellevue Vets Retirees. Back in the day, she and her husband were very involved in the CB Radio Clubs and went by the handles of Mama Bugs and Papa Bugs. She loved talking on the CB radio and formed many great relationships. Betty loved to travel and always looked forward to a new adventure.
She was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Anna (Wagner) Wolfzorn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Roach; sons, Ron, Steve and Bob Roach; grandson, Charlie Roach; brothers, Wilbert, and Norbert Wolfzorn; sisters, Virginia Lankheit, Mildred Ball, Thelma Herman and companion, Elmer "Mushie" Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter, Erleen (late Ken) Burdine; brother, Vernon Wolfzorn; daughter-in-law, Rita Brinegar; brother-in-laws, Art Ball and Lug Lankheit; 9 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Tuesday, March 4 at Holy Spirit Church, 825 Washington Ave., Newport with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:30 am. Burial is in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.
