Betty Lou Roy, 86, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at her home in Battle Creek, Michigan.
She was born April 28, 1939, in Scotts, Michigan to Clarence and Ruby (Sehy) Adams. Betty graduated from Climax High School in 1957. She was employed at The UpJohn Company for 34 years where she made many lifetime friends.
Betty was married to Jack L. Roy for 65 years and had over 30 happy years in retirement together, traveling as snowbirds to Gulf Shores, Alabama. They both enjoyed watching their grandkids grow up, many who lived on the same road. Betty was a faithful member of the Battle Creek St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Debbie (John) Taylor, Denise (Tom) Mackie, Brian (Kim) Roy, Kevin Roy and Jeff (Nicole) Roy, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings Jane (Marvin) Piper and Richard Adams. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents; a sister, Ruth Parks, sister-in-laws Maryellen Wilkey, Nancy Lehman and brother-in-law Jim Roy.
Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother and good friend. She loved watching her great grandchildren play, knitting baby booties, reading magazines and baking. She wrote many sweet poems about her grandchildren. She traveled and enjoyed many fun times with her Upjohn friends.
Friends will be received 9:00 a.m. – 9:40 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, where the Rosary will be recited at 9:40 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Christopher Ankley at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Committal and entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be provided at St. Joseph Parish Center following the committal service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Joseph Church, 61 North 23rd St., Battle Creek, MI, Heartland Hospice (A special thank you to the amazing staff at Heartland Hospice.), 8075 Creekside Dr # 120, Portage, MI 49024 or St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital (which was her favorite charity), 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
