Betty Stewart Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Betty Jane Stewart, a devoted Catholic, beloved sister, aunt, and friend entered eternal rest on October 8, 2025, after a courageous journey with cancer.
Born to William Salcido Stewart and Ildefonsa Granado Stewart in Galveston, Texas, Betty grew up in a loving family grounded in faith, hard work, and community. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved partner, Barbara Seitz; and her cherished great-niece, Holly Marie Carroll.
A faithful parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land, Texas, Betty found purpose, peace, and joy in serving others. She gave generously of her time and heart-volunteering at parish events, making donations to support her community, helping neighbors, and quietly praying for those in need. Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith and compassion.
Though she never had children of her own, Betty's nurturing spirit shone brightly in her relationships with family. She was devoted to her 20 nieces and nephews, 37 great-nieces and nephews, two great-great-nephews, and three great-great-nieces, each of whom she treated as her own. Her laughter, kindness, and steady guidance will live on in their hearts.
Even during her illness, Betty's faith never wavered. She faced her suffering with grace and humility, always trusting in God's will. Those who knew her remember her as a woman of strength, conviction, deep faith, and boundless love-a true reflection of Christ's compassion in the world.
Betty is survived by her brothers, William G. Stewart (Kathy) of Burleson, Pete Stewart Sr. (Nancy) of Laguna Vista, John G. Stewart (Debbie) of Odessa, Roy Gene Stewart (Diane) of San Antonio, and Edward Lee Stewart of Bullard; along with her many beloved nieces, nephews, and their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Sugar Land, on Monday, October 20, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery in Odessa, Texas.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many friends, neighbors, and members of St. Theresa Catholic Church who offered prayers, visits, meals, and encouragement during Betty's illness. Your kindness and faith brought great comfort.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society in Betty's memory.
