Schmidt Funeral Home - BrookshireBetty Joyce Taylor, a cherished member of her community, departed this world on November 27, 2025, in Katy, Texas, leaving behind an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Born on May 27, 1930, in Baytown, Texas, Betty’s journey through life was punctuated by her steadfast commitment to family, community, and the many hobbies that brought her joy.
After being a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Betty dedicated herself to serving her community as the Post Master at the Pattison Post Office for many years, where her warm demeanor and unwavering professionalism earned her the affection and respect of countless patrons. Her career, however, was but one facet of a rich and multifaceted life.
Betty's passion for writing took root as she penned articles for the local paper and produced a book chronicling the History of Pattison, a testament to her love for her hometown and its stories. Outside of her career, she nurtured her interests in gardening, antiquing, painting, and reading, finding solace and inspiration in each pursuit. Her talents extended to her beloved Bizarre Plants nursery, where she cultivated a unique collection that reflected her vibrant spirit.
Throughout her life, Betty found profound fulfillment in volunteering at her church, contributing her time and energy to uplift others in her community. A devoted family matriarch, she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She is survived by her children, Jackie Wayman Taylor (Gwendy) and Roy Taylor (Susan), all of Pattison, whose memories will forever be intertwined with hers.
Betty’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Angela (Chris), Troy (Alisa), Josh Taylor (Amy), and Austin (Lesley), each enriching the family's narrative in their unique ways. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of great-grandchildren Colby, Joe, Katie, Tucker, Austin Jr., Maggie, Brayden, and Aubrie, who will carry her spirit forward.
Betty is preceded in death by her devoted husband, W.C. "Monk" Taylor, and her daughter, Sherry Pendelton. The loss of her sister, Margaret Blanchard, and brothers Carl Jr. Beene and Ed Beene also holds a profound place in the hearts of those who remember her love for them and the legacies they shared. Betty leaves behind not only a family bound by love but a community that is richer for her contributions and her unwavering spirit. A lively Chihuahua named Katie-Joe remains a devoted companion, a small yet poignant reminder of Betty’s warmth and the joy she brought to her surroundings.
In celebrating Betty Joyce Taylor's remarkable life, we honor her legacy of service, love, and storytelling, a legacy that will endure in the hearts of many. Her gentle spirit and passionate pursuits will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
