Betty L. Tsao, age 88, of Ripon, WI passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Betty was born on April 27, 1935 in Eau Galle, WI, daughter of G. Vaughn and Helen (Fuhrman) Welch. She graduated from Durand High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree. She enjoyed her career as a school teacher until she married Peter Tsao in 1963. She then devoted her heart to being a loving wife and mother. She and Peter were active in their community, especially with the Chinese students at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. After Peter’s passing she returned to teaching and tutoring students. Betty was a devoted member of DeKalb Wesleyan Church until she moved to Wisconsin, where she enjoyed serving at the Ripon Baptist Church. She enjoyed entertaining and was a skilled cook, sharing her recipes and teaching Chinese cooking to many people throughout the years. Betty cherished her friends, family, and her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Betty is survived by her children, Brenda (Will) Bradley of Wheaton, IL, Greg “Tom” Tsao of Belleville, KS, Dan (Kathy) Tsao of Ripon, WI; 9 grandchildren, Rachael (Blake), Lisa (Bryant), Sarah, Laura, Joseph, Isaac, Luke, Grant, and Madalon; brother, Duane “Butch” (Lila) Welch of Elmwood, WI; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Tsao; her parents, G. Vaughn and Helen Welch; and a sister, Gwen (Bob) Richardson.
Visitation for Betty will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Betty will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with Pastor Joshua J. Sherman officiating. Private family interment will take place at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb, IL on Friday, September 29, 2023. A memorial is being established in her name.
