Bettye Lou Builta, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born November 18,1931 to Virgil Y. Middleton and Flora A. Potter in Brady, Texas 30 minutes after her twin sister, Billye Sue.
Bettye Lou was raised alongside Billye Sue and their other siblings, Juanita and Virgil, Jr., in Melvin, Texas. She remained remarkably close to her family throughout her life and graduated together with Billye Sue from Mary Hardin-Baylor College.
Married to Sam Builta for 66 years, Bettye Lou was the loving mother of Cathy Hurley of Dallas, Steve Builta (Lynne) of Austin, and David Builta (Kevin Finney, Jr) of Dallas. She adored her grandchildren, Lauren Stevens, Jennifer Hurley (Eric Stuart), Tara Hurley (Cody Stovall), Drake Builta, Tanner Builta, Caroline Builta, and Cody Builta, and her great-grandsons, Colton, Henry, and Harris.
Bettye Lou had a passion for traveling and loved creating lasting memories with family and friends. She was an avid tennis player and embraced her leadership role as a manager at HEB in San Antonio following her teaching career. She will be remembered for her caring, sincere, and friendly nature.
A celebration of Bettye Lou's life will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, North Richland Hills, TX.

Such a beautiful southern woman. Only had two occasions to be with. So charming and beautiful. Sam will miss his darling wife as I will with a new friend.
