Obituary of Beverly C Babbage
Beverly Charlene (Baker) Babbage, 90, of Bemus Point, passed away peacefully at home in Bemus Point on February 3, 2024. She was born June 3, 1933 to Lyman and Wilma Baker in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from East Aurora High School in 1951. She attended Bryant and Stratton College where she majored in business, with honors. She married Richard Babbage, on December 26, 1953. They shared 70 beautiful years together.
She is survived by her children Steven (Patty), Betsy Lichtinger (Clark), Julie, Jane Singer (Kevin), and Lyman Scott (Dawn); her grandchildren Christopher Babbage, Andy Babbage, Brandon Lichtinger, Corbin Lichtinger, Chad Cronauer, Anthony Babbage, Marc Singer, Stacey Kerr, Carolyn Ortez, Liz Singer, Stephanie Campbell, Michael Babbage and Jessica Babbage; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents and brother Mervin L. Baker.
Bev served as an activity director at Lutheran Social Services, director at the Sea Lion Project, where she oversaw operations of the Chautauqua Bell and Bemus Point Ferry, director of Royal Family Kids'Camp, and as a substitute teacher in Chautauqua-area schools. She served on the board of Girl Scouts of Western New York, the Chautauqua County Humane Society, the Bemus Point Library, and the Chautauqua Visitors Bureau. She was an active member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), worked on costumes for Jamestown's Little Theater, and was very active at Bemus Point United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Bev had a passion for sewing, singing Broadway tunes, playing bridge, and sitting in the sun and viewing Chautauqua lake. She delighted in opening her home and preparing meals for friends, family, visitors (including students from throughout the world through AFS and Rotary), and neighbors from the community. But of all her many accomplishments, her greatest was being a wife, mom, and grandmother.
Arrangements entrusted to Riccardi's Hubert Funeral Home.
.
Visitation will be held on February 8 at 10:00 AM in the church foyer of Bemus Point Methodist Church followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Bemus Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of their choice

Beverly was one of a kind. We cherished going to Bemus Point, she always treated us with great kindness and love and her blueberry pancakes were delicious, she was great fun.
