Beverly Sue Stober Daggs, 89, formerly of Memphis, passed away in hospice care in Columbia, MO on October 16, 2025 after a courageous 19 year battle with cancer.
Beverly was born May 26, 1936, in rural Saline County, MO, the only child of Hobert Wayne Stober and Lillian Pauline (Hays) Stober.
She was a 1954 graduate of Marshall High School and then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, graduating in 1958 with a degree in Home Economics.
She began her career at the University of Missouri Extension service. Her first placement was in Shelby County, Missouri and she was soon transferred to Scotland County. While in Scotland County, she met James R. Daggs and they married in Marshall, MO on September 4, 1960. To this union was born three daughters.
She was passionate about children getting an education. She was employed by the Scotland County R-I School district as a paraprofessional for 21 years. She touched the lives of countless students with her kindness and wit. Before that time, she was an active substitute teacher. She also was the first director of the Northeast Missouri Learning Center for children with developmental disabilities. She served as chair of the scholarship committee for the American Angus Ladies Auxiliary for several years. All three of her daughters graduated from college with Bachelor's degrees.
Beverly was an active member of the community during her time in Scotland County. She was an inaugural member of the Scotland County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron. She led organizations such as 4-H, Girl Scouts, and Rainbow when her daughters were involved. Most of the time, her service was much less visible, making costumes for drama productions, acting in a K. I. C. K. production, and countless other activities.
Beverly was devoted to her family. She attended the events her daughters were involved in throughout school, such as drama productions, campus bowl matches, football games, and basketball games. When her grandchildren arrived, she was promoted to "Mimi," a role that she relished and shined in. Each of her grandchildren had a special relationship with her. She frequently drove hours to see her grandchildren in dance recitals, cheer competitions, county fairs, drama productions, and numerous other activities, no matter how small. She was privileged to see all of her grandchildren graduate high school and three of the four graduate college. Her youngest grandchild is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Jacqueline L. Daggs of Eldora, IA, Jennifer L. Daggs-Furkin (Roger) of Columbia, MO, and Dr. Joy L. Daggs of Maryville, MO; her grandchildren Dr. Jaelyn (Sam) Pulkrabek of Chapel Hill, NC, Jordyn Daggs-Olson of Overland Park, KS, Reece Furkin of Columbia, MO, and Jameson Furkin of Columbia, MO. She is also survived by one great grandson, Baylor James Pulkrabek.
She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Daggs, her parents, and her in-laws.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 1 pm at the Memphis Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The service will be followed with a private family burial at Memphis cemetery. Travis Mathes will serve as the officiant of the service.
