Beverly Lynn Tripp Etheridge, 82, of Roanoke Rapids North Carolina, left this earthly life for an eternal one on October 26th, 2025.
Beverly was born on December 12th, 1942, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late William Lawrence “Willie” Tripp Sr. and Lila “Blanche” Weiss Tripp. She graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1961 and attended Troutman College of Cosmetology in Raleigh, North Carolina. This began her career of hairdressing until she became a mother and homemaker in the 1970’s.
In 1957, while cruising with her cousins in her father’s Studebaker, Beverly met the love of her life, Cecil Etheridge. This courtship and marriage lasted for 66 years. They had two children, Leigh Dunning Etheridge, and Robert “Jason” Etheridge.
Beverly was a lifelong member of Rosemary United Methodist Church where she helped teach the Fidelis Women’s Sunday School class, helped with bible school, and assisted Methodist Youth programs and chaperoned youth trips.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Ottis Lee “Cecil” Etheridge; parents William Lawrence “Willie Tripp Sr. and Lila Blanche Weiss Tripp; sisters Yvonne Slagle and Carol Lambert; brother William Lawrence “Bill” Tripp Jr; a niece Beverly Renee Lambert Kukowski, and her cousin Connie Cole Andrews with whom she shared a special bond.
Beverly is survived by her daughter Leigh Dunning Etheridge, son Robert “Jason” Etheridge and wife Heather Hux Etheridge; grandchildren Allie Elizabeth Etheridge, Jackson Cole Etheridge, Emma Claire Etheridge, and Layne Grady Hux; sisters-in-law Joanne Hamill Tripp and Effie Etheridge Pearson; as well as 8 nieces and 5 nephews. Beverly is also survived by a cousin, Bonnie Weiss Sykes who has been ever-present in her life much like a sister, and another lifelong friend Joyce Thompson Williams.
A graveside service will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1:00PM with Rev. Sue Owens and Rev. Keith Porter officiating. A visitation will be held the same day prior to the service starting at 11:00 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service. Friends can sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.
