Publish in a newspaper

Beverly Ann (Suroviec) Hammons, 71, of Fairfield, CT, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on September 30, 2025. She was born in Erie and attended Fort LeBoeuf High School (Class of '71). After graduation, she studied at Edinboro State College, majoring in Mathematics. She began her career with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, working for nearly a decade in the Erie and Philadelphia offices. She and her beloved husband, Sonny, married in 1982, eventually settling in Connecticut. Her interest and knowledge in nutrition led to a 20-year career managing the vitamin and supplement department of a local retail health food chain. In 1992, she became a mother and focused her life on raising her only child.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Thomas "Sonny"; her son, Thomas (Emma) of Charlottesville, VA; her siblings, Laura Suroviec and Gary Suroviec of Summit Township, PA, Judith (Randall) Marquis of Millcreek Township, PA, and Stephen (Sherry) Suroviec of Cranberry, PA. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins, and her dear friend Ann Harmon. She was predeceased by her parents, Virginia (Yaple) and Henry Suroviec; sisters Denise Suroviec and Paula Jo Suroviec; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Bev loved family, music, antiquing, estate sales, and time at the beach. She was a voracious reader, especially of Agatha Christie. She enjoyed her son's athletic events, playing cards (especially with her sisters), and "hiatus" with friends from college. As the oldest of seven, she would often bemoan her role as the permanent babysitter, but her siblings knew better.

Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Home, Pine Avenue Branch, on Friday, October 10th, between 5:00–8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 11th, from 10:00 a.m. until a brief service at 11:30 a.m. A procession to Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Beverly's memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Washington, D.C
