William "Bill" A. McCommons, age 59, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23rd in the comfort of his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by the people he loved.

Born on January 10, 1966, Bill was the beloved son of Jane Hoover and Bill McCommons (Patty). He was a 1984 graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School and dedicated 33 years of service as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. During his time there, he also served as president of the Letter Carriers Union Branch 284, advocating for his fellow workers with care and conviction.

Bill was a man of faith and attended Erie First Assembly, where he found great comfort in his spiritual beliefs.

A true enthusiast of life's simple joys, Bill had a love for gardening, especially the challenge of growing rare and unique plants. He was an avid collector and self-proclaimed eBay connoisseur, always on the lookout for hidden treasures. He had a passion for cooking and delighted in experimenting with new recipes. And despite what they did to his blood pressure, was a devoted fan and never missed a Green Bay Packers game. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, which brought him the greatest joy.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Laura; his cherished daughters, Bethenie and Emily; stepchildren, Brian Thomson (Nicole), Eric Wilson, and Tyler Wilson (Carrie). He was a proud grandfather to Carter, and step-grandfather to Dylan, Meranda, and Sawyer. He is also survived by his sister, Shelly; as well as stepbrother, Stephen; and stepsisters, Veronica (Joe), Cindy, Mary (Pat) and Monica (Justin); a cousin, Chris; and some of his closest friends, Dan (Linda), Joe (Bonnie), Donny, Greg (Julie) and John (Stacey).

Bill's kindness, humor, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 6th, at 11 am at North East Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Condolences may be sent to www.dusckasfuneralhomes.com.
