Beverly Gene Notestine, age 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Brookdale Brighton Senior Living Community. While we are deeply saddened by her loss, we know her life was filled with so many blessings, including her many loving relationships with family members and friends, many of which lasted for decades.
"Bev" was born on May 5, 1927, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, to the late Miriam (Slaybaugh) and Glenn Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul D. Notestine. Theirs was a special, loving and devoted marriage that lasted nearly 62 years.
The first of Beverly's three greatest passions was music. She dedicated decades of her life to teaching piano to young students and accompanying others at numerous music festivals. She also played both piano and organ at the churches she and Paul attended for many years. Finally, she was a member of the Farmington Musicale for over 50 years.
Beverly's second passion was nursing. After receiving her Registered Nurse certification in 1949, she spent the first three months of her wedded life with Paul in 1950 at Yellowstone National Park, where she was the nurse at Canyon Lodge. Among other places, she worked for many years as an orthopedic nurse at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Beverly's third, and most important, passion was being a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and lifelong friend. There aren't enough words to describe how important family and friends were to Beverly. They were everything. Family reunions, neighborhood gatherings, family holiday celebrations They meant the world to her.
Beverly is the loving mother of Ken (Jen) Notestine, Tom (Sarah) Notestine and Susan (Steve) Welter; loving grandmother of Jeff (Michaela) Notestine, Jeremy (Jessica) Notestine, Julie (Pat) Lee, Emma (Zac) Carver, Chris Notestine, Cameron Welter, Alexis Welter, Austin Welter and Christiana Welter; loving great-grandmother of Madison and Jackson Notestine, Luke and Leo Notestine and Maxwell Carver; loving sister to Joanne Parker and Janis Crum; and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Sadly, Beverly was preceded in death by her grandson Benjamin Welter.
Beverly's funeral service is planned for Saturday, November 16th, at 11:30 a.m., at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington. The family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Pastor Keith Dwyer will preside.
Interment will be at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi, Michigan.
