Beverly June Smail
June 29, 1936 – February 28, 2025
Beverly June (Reed) Smail, 88, passed away February 28, 2025, at Evergreen Hospice House in Albany.
Beverly was born June 29, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Harold and Ora (Clucas) Reed. She had two brothers and four sisters.
She married Chester L. Smail on March 18, 1951 in Omaha, NE. They would go on to have five children together, Chester, Johnny, Jeffery, Jenny, and Daniel. The family moved to California, where Beverly canned most of their food by gleaning orchards, and other tasks. They would eventually relocate to the Willamette Valley and finish raising their children. Beverly's children were the treasure of her life.
After Chester's passing in August of 1988, Beverly lived with Dave and Jenny Dulley for several years before moving to Burns, OR to live with her good friend Norma Wodli. After several years living with Norma, due to increasing medical conditions, Beverly moved in with Daniel and Charlotte Smail, eventually becoming a resident at The Mennonite Village, where she stayed for over eight years.
Beverly enjoyed listening to music, raising plants, and loved to cook for children.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, her parents, brothers Frank and Donald Reed, sisters Francis, Jennie, and Ora, and her son, Jeffery Smail.
She is survived by her children, Chester, Johnny, and Daniel Smail, and Jenny Dulley, sister Edna JoAnne Sandell, 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Beverly will be held at 1pm, Friday, March 7, 2025, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon, with interment to follow at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
