Beverly Jo had her grandchildren call her 'B' to avoid being called grandma. Born on May 29, 1935, in Grandfield, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Lloyd Edward Emmert and Estella (Keesling) Emmert. Together with her brother, Ronald D'Wayne "Buddy" (May 13, 1936 - July 21, 2023), she grew up in a loving family deeply connected to the First Church of the Nazarene in Orange, Texas. She married Thomas Wesley Boyd (July 4, 1933 - February 13, 2024) and became mother of Timothy "Kyle" and Katrina. After residing for a decade in and around Nashville, Tennessee, the family moved to Norman, Oklahoma in 1969.

Divorced in 1979, Beverly moved to Austin, Texas, where she met her second husband, Elisha Gayland "Gay" Walker (October 30, 1932 - June 1, 2020). After decades shared in proximity to Lake Travis, the two moved to Norman, Oklahoma in 2016, where both enjoyed their final years with each other and family.

Beverly was athletic and artistic. She was mindful of others and wore her sharp intellect (she attained a Masters Degree in Human Relations) as thoughtfully as she selected her clothing. She loved music, performance art and film. She had a special affection for deep dialogue spoken by "pleasant looking people".

Katrina and her husband Thom, Kyle and his wife Pamela, the 'German' grandchildren, Dorian, Jonah, Julian and Zoe, relatives and friends, share in mourning the passing of an utterly unique woman who warmed our spirits like a hearth in winter.
