Big Al Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Geils Funeral Home - Bensensville on Oct. 15, 2022.
Alan "Big Al" Wayne Geneva, age 55, of Bensenville, Illinois passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Alan was born on February 20, 1967 to the late Louis Geneva Sr. and Shelley Geneva in Downers Grove, Illinois.
Alan grew up and attended school in Kingsford, Michigan. As a young boy he would go to the lake and fish with his brothers Glen, Louis, and Joe. Alan was always the life of the party and knew how to get everyone on the dance floor. It didn't matter the genre of music, he was out there busting a move and having the time of his life. Alan was the biggest fan of Motley Crue, Van Halen, and Aerosmith. His favorite hang out places as a teenager were the C&R in Aurora, going to the shooting range in Merriman, and of course hanging with his friends and brothers at the train bridge. Alan had a personality much bigger than life itself, whether it was his personal one liners, or the way he said "How you doin?" No matter what words came out of his mouth there was always that sly grin right after, which made you smile right back. We were truly blessed to have Alan in our life because he was the epitome of being loyal, trustworthy, brutally honest, and having your back in any situation.
Alan moved to Illinois in 1986 where he was a factory worker as a certified forklift driver for a warehouse. Alan also worked in the Union as a Tiler in the Chicagoland area, where he met his wife Deborah and later owned a restaurant/bar called "Third Base" in River Grove. Together they had 2 kids and raised 4 stepkids in their home in Bensenville, Illinois. Alan was a very proud father and grandpa to his children and loved being married to his wife Deborah for 22 years.
Alan is survived by his loving wife Deborah Geneva of Bensenville, IL, Six endearing children, Louis (Nicole) Geneva, Jeremy (Ruby) Geneva, Kristy (Jason) Geneva-Lehtinen, Michael Geneva, Alan Jr. (Paige) Geneva, Nicolette (Darven) Geneva. His eight adorable grandchildren, Luciana, Adriano, Sophia, Grace, Makayla, Adonis, Athena, and coming soon in November baby Amiyah. He is also survived by his mother Shelley Geneva, brother Joseph Geneva, sister Star Geneva, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his father Louis Geneva, brothers Glenn, Louis, Marty Geneva and one sister MaryBeth.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 1:00p.m. - 4:00p.m. at Geils Funeral Home, 180 South York Road, Bensenville, IL 60106, followed by a memorial service at 4p.m. Please contact Geils Funeral Home at 630-766-3232 with any questions.
