Jerry Allen Garrard Jr., 58, passed Saturday Feb. 21, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford MS.

Allen was a devoted father, grandfather, mentor and friend, whose voice – strong, lively, and often louder than most – filled every room he entered. He loved to talk, loved to laugh, and was at his best when giving advice. He was an avid outdoorsman and passed that same passion on to his boys. Allen loved riding motorcycles, the freedom of the open road called to him. He believed family always came first. He lived for his boys and his grandchildren. He opened his home up to anyone that was in need and always lent a helping hand. He didn't just raise his boys, but their friends and extended family also.

Allen served as a counselor for inmates at Bolivar County Correctional Facility and for adolescents at Sunflower Landing. He had a true calling for counseling youth struggling with addiction. A dedicated advocate and compassionate mentor, Allen became the voice of encouragement to countless young people seeking a second chance. Through that work, he changed lives – offering hope, guidance, and a steady presence to those who needed it most.

He is preceded in death by the ones he longed to see again: his mother, Diane Garrard; his father, Jerry Garrard; and his younger brother, Shane Garrard. Allen leaves behind his beloved twin sons, Matt Garrard (Caitlin) and Andy Garrard; his cherished grandchildren, Mary Addison, Lathan, Stiles, Briggs, and Bexley Garrard; and his older brother, Randy Scrivener (Michelle). He also leaves behind a legacy of mentorship, compassion and strength that will continue to live on in the lives he touched.

Though his voice may be quiet now, the encouragement he gave and the lives he helped shape will echo for generations.

Visitation is Tuesday February 24, 2026, 1 PM - 2 PM at Meredith Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS. Funeral services are 2 PM Tuesday February 24, 2026, at Meredith Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS with burial in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
