April 22, 1932 - December 24, 2024 Gothenburg, Nebraska Charles W. "Bill" Lehmkuhl, Jr passed away at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska on Dec 24, 2024 at the age of 92.
Bill was born April 22, 1932 to Charles William Sr. and Blanche (Van Gorp ) Lehmkuhl in Mitchellville, Iowa. Bill had two sisters, Shirley Sweeney (deceased) of Mt Ayr, Iowa and Sharon Truan of Michigan. Bill was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War from 1952-54.
Bill married Priscilla Geiken in 1955 and they had eight children. Mark (Renee) of Lincoln, Marcie of Arizona, Chris of Arizona (deceased), Michael of Nebraska, Steve of Iowa, Eric of Nebraska, Jeffrey (Linda) of Arizona, and Melanie of Arizona.
Bill and Priscilla moved to Arizona in 1965 and in 1972 moved to Buckeye, Az to farm alfalfa and raise Charolais cattle. Bill enjoyed the farming and the cattle business and traveling to various cattle shows and supporting his children's involvement in the local FFA chapter resulting in receiving several Champion in Show awards. Bill also served as a part-time deputy on the Maricopa County Sheriff's posse. Bill was from a generation instilled with an exceptional work ethic born as part of his agricultural life in Iowa involving crops, dairy and raising various types of livestock in the Mitchellville and Booneville, Iowa areas as well as in Arizona.
Bill drove 18 wheeler semi-trucks in the Phoenix area for 20 plus years. Bill and Priscilla moved back to Gothenburg in 1995 and he worked for Peterson's Supermarket until 2017.
Grandpa Bill had 15 grandchildren: Sam, Aaron (AZ), Rebecca (deceased), Daniel, (TN), Rachel (NE) Lisa (NE), Laura (deceased), David (CA), Phillip, Deborah (AZ), Amber (AZ), Rylan (AZ), Christian and Aidan (AZ), Kaylee (Canada). 13 Great grandchildren and brothers-in-law Norman and Colleen Geiken and Dr. Allen and Odette Geiken.
Visitation Services will be on 1:00-7:00 pm, Thursday Jan 2, 2025, Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St., Gothenburg, Nebraska, with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Cornerstone Bible Church, 1721 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Robert Litzenberger officiating.
Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel.
