He was a longtime resident of Durant, Oklahoma and proudly served in the U.S. Army.
Bill enjoyed painting, woodworking, building things, and listening to oldies music.
He was preceded in death by his parents Brodie Charles McCarty and Dessie Mae (Buchanan) McCarty; wife Donna Sue McCarty; brothers Charles Brodie McCarty, Johnny Mack McCarty; sisters Carrie (McCarty) Blackburn, and Ruth "Crickett" Jones.
Survivors include his brothers Ervin McCarty, Kirvin McCarty; sisters Jerrie Hankins, Mary McCalib; son William "Turk" James McCarty; daughter Melissa Gilliam; grandchildren Jessica Wagoner, Hayley Wagoner Crisp, William Daniel McCarty; great grandchildren Skylar, Karleigh, Rylan, Liam; special great nephew Terry Doggett as well as other extended family and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Gordon Funeral Home, 221 N 3rd Ave. Durant, Oklahoma.
