Greenwood, IN. – Shawn Matthew McCarty, 42, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at his home.
Shawn was born on February 19, 1983 in Franklin, Indiana.
Shawn worked as a Utility Locator for the past 10 years, most recently working for Zayo Group. When he wasn't working he enjoyed watching Marvel movies, reading Stephen King novels, playing video games with his sons, and spending time with his family, children, and loved ones. He enjoyed working with his hands, fixing things to work on his truck. He was hard working, taking care of others making sure their needs were met before his.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Victor and Daisy Bridges.
Shawn is survived by children, Matthew McCarty, Justin McCarty, Josie McCarty, Hailey McCarty; mother, Victoria "Vickie" (Bridges) Scott; brothers, Mike Summers, James Summers (Melissa), Jeremy Summers (Elizabeth); partner, Amber Appleby and her daughter, Kinlee Appleby.
Services will be 1 P.M. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Jessen Funeral Home in Whiteland, Indiana with Pastor Hoss Ridgeway officiating.
Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Brother you will be missed. I wish you could have met your Niece, Dolly. I think she would have loved your energy. I miss you and always think of you. I miss hanging out with you. We always had a laugh when we did. I love you Brother and I will miss you greatly.
