LIMA -- Billie S. Harnishfeger, Age 94, of Lima passed away at 6:05pm on August 13, 2022, at Vancrest Nursing Home, Ada, Ohio. Billie was born December 6, 1927, to Frank and Erma Harnishfeger. In 1948 he married Betty Randas and in 1960 he married Joeann Stevens.
Survivors include six sons, Alan S. Harnishfeger, of Lima, Danny Joe Stevens, of Lima, Frank A. (Diane) Harnishfeger, of Columbus Grove, William S. (Dianna) Harnishfeger, of Lima, Michael A. (Barb) Harnishfeger, of Ada, and Joseph R. Harnishfeger, of Lima; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Billie was retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad having served in the Lima office as yardmaster for many years. Billie served the people of Lima's 5th Ward as their councilman in the 1970's and 80's, a position that he enjoyed greatly.
Billie was a member of America's Greatest Generation as a veteran of the United States Navy. Billie quit high school in order to join the Navy during World War II where he traveled the world extensively in service to our country. The Lima City Schools would later issue his Honorary Diploma in respect to his war time military service.
A gathering of family will be held at a later date.

Billie was a great guy.He worked on the railroad with my dad .I remember him coming to my house when I was little to visit .He always made us laugh.He felt like part of our Family.

So sorry to hear of his passing,I new Bill for many years ever since I was a little girl,He worked with my dad on the railroad.He would always come to our house on his motor cycle ,and visit .A very sweet man.i was prolly about 5 or 6 when he worked with my dad.I am 62 now that is a lot of years.
